Webinar on hard to engage 8th of September fra 7 pm – 9 pm. This is the second webinar in our “learning from each other” webinar series and is a collaboration with the International Dutch Mental health Hub.
Start near, go far:
An overview of the assertive care practices for those hard to engage in Antwerp
The first principle on the public health perspective in the consensus paper of eucoms is ‘Community mental health services work for the health of all citizens in their catchment area. This includes existing clients, clients who need care but are hard to engage and potential future clients.’ Moreover it is stated that care for persons who are hard to engage is a core task of community mental health teams.
Lack of motivation for treatment makes a subgroup of patients with severe mental illness difficult to engage in treatment, while they have been shown to be most in need of treatment. This motivation paradox has clinical relevance, as it provides an ethical basis for outreach services which aim to engage marginally motivated patients with severe psychosocial problems into mental health care (Mulder, Jochems, & Kortrijk, 2014).
In this webinar we want to present how we reach, engage and motivate this vulnerable group in different setting in Antwerp:
